TORONTO — Kaylee Hunter scored on a penalty in the 51st minute, Sabrina D’Angelo made two saves, and AFC Toronto edged the winless Calgary Wild 1-0 in Northern Super League action on Tuesday at York Lions Stadium.

Toronto’s record improves to six wins, four losses and three draws — three points back of the second-place Montreal Roses.

“I was just happy to get one in the back of the net,” said Hunter. “It was a big goal. I was happy it went in and won us the game.”

The last-place Wild have 11 losses and two draws, and are 14 points behind the fifth-place Vancouver Rise.

Toronto outshot the visitors 21-4 (4-2 on target) and had possession for 60 per cent of the match. The hosts took 11 of the 13 corners. Calgary received the only yellow card of the match.

“I thought we were in total control in the first half,” said Toronto coach Marko Milanovic. “Even though we didn’t create a lot of clearcut chance, I thought we were in their box multiple times. … Scored that big goal early (in the second half) and held on.”
