Travel through mountain passes challenging… again
DRIVERS WARNED
KELOWNA – Winter isn’t giving up just yet.
Environment Canada is warning about heavy snowfall Sunday over the highway mountain passes in Southern Interior.
A Special Weather Statement has been issued to let drivers know about the nasty conditions expected.
Forecasters are calling for between 20 to 30 cm of snow Sunday and another 10 cm on Monday.
Whether you’re heading west to the Lower Mainland or east to Alberta, you’ll be impacted by the snow.
The snow is falling on the Coquihalla Highway from Merritt to Hope, the TransCanada through the Rogers and Eagle Passes, Highway 3 from Princeton through the Allison Pass to Hope and Highway 3’s Kootenay Pass and Paulson Summit.
This winter has been the worst on record for snow and avalanches on the Coquihalla Highway.
The best advice is to check the current highway conditions at Drive B.C. and the current weather conditions from Environment Canada.
