GLASGOW — Canada’s Damian Warner trails Grenada’s Lindon Victor by 35 points in a tightly packed men’s decathlon with the javelin and 1,500 metres remaining Friday.

The Tokyo Olympic champion from London, Ont., won the 110-metre hurdles in 14.04 seconds to extend his overnight lead and remained in front after the discus before Victor took over in the pole vault.

England’s Sammy Ball sits third, 54 points off the lead, while India’s Tejaswin Shankar was fourth, 67 points back.

Canada’s medal total climbed to 47 after Montreal’s Heidi Quach, 22, earned silver in the women’s 48-kilogram judo final, falling 2-1 to India’s Asmita Dey in golden score, the sport’s overtime period.

Earlier Friday, Edmonton’s Joshua Ofori took bronze in the men’s 80-kilogram boxing competition after dropping a unanimous 5-0 semifinal decision to India’s Ankush Panghal.

Canada remained third in the medal standings with 15 gold, 14 silver and 18 bronze, behind Australia (116) and England (68).

Defending Commonwealth Games champion Evan Dunfee races later Friday in the men’s 10,000-metre race walk final. The Richmond, B.C., product is the reigning world champion at the 35-kilometre distance.

Canada’s other medal chances Friday include Toronto’s Aaron Brown in the men’s 200-metre final, Brooke Overholt of St. Marys, Ont., and Savannah Sutherland of Borden, Sask., in the women’s 400-metre hurdles final, and Jennifer Elizarov of Waterloo, Ont., in the women’s pole vault final.
