CAPE BRETON, N.B. – Juraj Pekarcik had one goal and two assists as the Moncton Wildcats blanked the Cape Breton Eagles 6-0 on Friday night in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League.
Simon Mullen, Vincent Collard and Simon Binkley produced a goal and an assist each, while Julius Sumpf and Markus Vidicek also scored for Moncton.
Wildcats netminder Rudy Guimond made 20 saves to earn the shutout. Eagles netminder Jakub Milota stopped 34 of 40 shots.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL, the Charlottetown Islanders beat the Halifax Mooseheads 5-2, the Chicoutimi Saguenéens won 6-1 over the Saint John Sea Dogs and the Gatineau Olympiques downed the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 5-1.
The Shawinigan Cataractes crushed the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 5-0 and the Quebec Remparts edged the Val-d’Or Foreurs 4-3 in overtime.
