iN VIDEO: Okanagan Guitar Festival hosts classical concerts

Three back-to-back classical guitar concerts were held at The Cathedral Church of St Michael & All Angels on August 6, 7, and 8, in Kelowna. The festival usually hosts workshops and seminars that dive deeper into the world of classical guitar. But this year, Alec Pearson, one of the event’s organizers, was getting married and needed to focus more on planning his personal celebration. Alec plans to proceed next year with returning to classroom-style lessons during the festival.

Friday, August 7, had Vivian Chen performing on the harp with Alec Pearson on guitar. The two performed together some original pieces and some classical ensembles, telling the magical journey of a bard who has lived hundreds of years.

The festival is put on by the Vancouver Classical Guitar Society and has been a strong support in educating and keeping the spirit of classical music alive. The society hosts plenty of social events, festivals, and even has scholarship programs.
