Suspect arrested after brush fire in Salmon Arm

A suspect was arrested in connection with a deliberately set brush fire in Salmon Arm on Saturday evening.

Officers were called to the brush fire just before 6 p.m., Aug. 8, in the 300 block of Trans-Canada Highway SW, according to an RCMP media release.

The fire burned bushes and trees but was extinguished RCMP officers and citizens before it spread to nearby businesses.

A suspect was arrested the next day. RCMP don’t identify the suspect or say what charges they face.

“The investigation remains ongoing and we continue to seek additional witnesses,” Salmon Arm RCMP Staff Sgt. Simon Scott said in the release.
