From Dungeons & Dragons to Settlers of Catan, many will be out to celebrate three full days of board games, card games, and plenty of tabletop action at the Coast Capri Hotel on August 14, 15, and 16. There have been other conventions and events in Kelowna that hosted games before, but not an entire convention dedicated to tabletop gaming in general. WinCon aims to bring a wide variety of games for people to play, watch, and learn about. The term “wincon” is known as “win condition”. For many card games, it refers to playing a certain card or combination of cards that wins you the game. A fun play on words for the convention to be named.

Pantheon Events will be running the convention, hosting tournaments, workshops, and plenty of open play with over 200+ games available to try. The perfect opportunity to try out a game before purchasing it or make new friends at the open play tables. Warhammer, Magic: The Gathering, and plenty of other games will be found as well.
There will be local community game developers showcasing their games, as well as a used games marketplace for people who have games they no longer play or people who want to purchase a lightly loved game.

Kelowna has quite a large board game and tabletop scene, and there are plenty of shops around town, including Quantum Games, Dragon Cards, Tabletop Depot, Loadza Toyz, Sweetnam’s Nicknaks, and Orchard City Games in West Kelowna. Each store has its own personality and brings accessibility to many tabletop gamers in the community. A convention like this gives great opportunities for people to try out games before purchasing from local shops or ordering a game online.
Tickets are available for each day, and weekend passes are also available if you want to spend the whole weekend playing. A detailed schedule, game list, and tickets are available on their website here.
