A boyhood Red moves on: Curtis Jones joins Inter Milan in a $40M deal

MILAN (AP) — Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones completed his move to Serie A champion Inter Milan in a 35 million euros ($40 million) deal on Friday.

Inter agreed to pay 30 million euros up front and 5 million euros in add-ons. Liverpool also negotiated a 10% sell-on clause.

The 25-year-old Jones signed to 2031.

He spent 17 years at Anfield. He joined the academy at age nine and debuted for the first team in 2019 under Jürgen Klopp. Jones made 228 appearances including 49 last season in all competitions. But only 18 of them were starts in the Premier League and Jones was unhappy with the lack of playing time.

He had one year remaining on his contract but Jones made it known to new coach Andoni Iraola as soon as he arrived that he wanted out.
