Canada’s Sarah Mitton finishes third in shot put at Diamond League meet

CHORZÓW — Canada’s Sarah Mitton finished third in women’s shot put at a Diamond League meet in Poland on Saturday.

The 30-year-old from Brooklyn, N.S., recorded her best throw of 19.34 metres on her fifth attempt.

Chase Jackson of the United States won the meet with a throw of 20.92 metres, while Jessica Schilder of the Netherlands placed second at 20.20.

Mitton, a two-time world indoor champion and the 2023 world silver medallist, sits second behind Schilder in the Diamond League women’s shot put standings after winning the Paris meet in June.

Competition continues Sunday in Poland, with world champions Ethan Katzberg and Camryn Rogers of Canada taking part in the hammer throw.

The Diamond League final will be held Sept. 4-5 in Brussels.
