MILTON — The connections for Best Chip and Ayeaye Captain Deo paid $40,000 supplement fees for the $690,000 Canadian Pacing Derby.
Woodbine Entertainment also announced Monday it had received a $20,000 supplement fee for Francenent N for the Grade 2 Milton Stakes.
Both the Pacing Derby and Milton Stakes will be held Sept. 5 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
A supplement fee is paid to enter a horse into a race after the closing of the original nomination deadline.
Best Chip currently has posted the fastest time in North America this season at 1:46.1. The four-year-old has won seven-of-12 starts this season and has twice finished under 1:47.
Ayeaye Captain Deo is the co-fastest horse in Canada this season at 1:47.3. The four-year-old has three wins and eight top-three finishes from 12 starts this season.
The Milton Stakes eliminations, if necessary, will be held Friday at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The Canadian Pacing Derby eliminations are scheduled for Saturday, also at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
The entry box for both races closes Tuesday.
