Okanagan Mountie charged with breach of trust

An Okanagan Mountie has been charged with breach of trust.

RCMP Const. Vince Franco Cesarone was charged early this month for an offence that took place in March 2024.

It’s unclear precisely what Const. Cesarone is alleged to have done, but he’s facing one charge of breach of trust by a public officer.

According to the Criminal Code, a breach of trust is defined as a public officer who, in connection with the duties of their office, commits fraud or a breach of trust.

The 63-year-old had his first court appearance early this month, and is scheduled back in court in September.

Several news stories indicate that Const. Cesarone was with the Kelowna RCMP, but it’s unclear if Cesarone is still working or whether he’d been put on leave.

It’s also unclear whether Const. Cesarone is facing any internal RCMP Code of Conduct authority proceedings.

In 2012, Const. Cesarone was honoured and recognized as an ‘all-star’ Mountie for taking at least 34 impaired drivers off the road.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
