Sentences issued for 2023 Metro Vancouver homicide

SURREY — Four people who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the 2023 killing of a 19-year-old man in Burnaby, B.C., have received their prison sentences.

Homicide investigators say the latest sentence came Tuesday, when Rhoda Diabikulu was delivered a seven-year term in addition to a lifetime firearms ban.

Ali Shamkhi, Rais Usman and Ousmane Keita were sentenced between March and June to prison terms ranging from six to more than 10 years.

On June 29, 2023, when Burnaby RCMP were called to a home on 17 Avenue in the Metro Vancouver city.

They found Ryan Nagy with life-threatening injuries, and he died at the scene.

Another person was also injured in the attack but survived.
