iN PHOTOS: The biggest eggplant in Kelowna and other Thompson-Okanagan veggie tales

Gardeners in the Thompson-Okanagan are harvesting veggies this month and some of the produce is huge, making for great conversation pieces and bragging rights.

Some of the biggest kinds of vegetables found so far this fall are tomatoes and beets, but won’t come close to setting world records.

Holding the top spot for the heaviest tomato in the Guinness Book of World Records is a domingo variety that was grown by Dan Sutherland in Walla Walla, Washington, USA last year.

The tomato weighed 16.89 pounds and had a circumference of 39 inches.

The world record for the heaviest beet was set by the Fortey family in the UK in 2019, weighing 52 lb, 14 oz.
