Kamloops residents and visitors will have a chance to experience different cultures from around the world at the Tapestry Festival Multicultural Event on September 19.

The fifth annual festival will take place at McDonald Park, bringing the community together for a free day of cultural performances, food, art and family activities. The festival runs from 11 am to 4 pm.

The entertainment stage will feature a variety of performances throughout the day, including dancers, singers, drummers and a Chinese Dragon. The performances will showcase different cultural traditions and allow visitors to experience music and dance from around the world.

Food will also be a major part of the festival. The Cultural Foodies Pavilion will feature dishes from different cultures, giving visitors the chance to try a variety of foods while learning more about the communities and traditions behind them.

Visitors can also explore the Multicultural Neighbourhood, where vendors and cultural groups will share their backgrounds through displays, art, music and other activities. An art pavilion will highlight artists, sculptors and other creative work from different cultures.

Families with children can visit the Around the World Kid Zone, which will include inflatables, face painting, games, crafts and other activities. The festival is designed to be family-friendly and welcoming to both locals and visitors.

The Tapestry Festival aims to create an inclusive space where people can learn about and celebrate the different cultures that make up the Kamloops community. The festival’s organizers say the event focuses on cultural awareness, diversity and bringing people together.
