iN NUMBERS: How much candidates can spend to get to get elected in Okanagan, Kamloops

It might seem odd at first but every city has a different expense limit for candidates running for local office in B.C.

Elections BC bases the expense limit on the population of each city and whether the candidate is running for mayor or to be a councillor.

Here are the numbers:

• 123,043: Dollars. That’s the expense limit for mayoral candidates in Kelowna.
• 62,353: Dollars. That’s the expense limit for city council candidates in Kelowna.
• 82,059: Dollars. That’s the expense limit for mayoral candidates in Kamloops.
• 41,607: Dollars. That’s the expense limit for city council candidates in Kamloops.
• 34,799: Dollars. That’s the expense limit for mayoral candidates in Penticton.
• 17,547: Dollars. That’s the expense limit for city council candidates in Penticton.
• 41,888: Dollars. That’s the expense limit for mayoral candidates in Vernon.
• 21,156: Dollars. That’s the expense limit for city council candidates in Vernon.
• 12,323: Dollars. That’s the expense limit for mayoral candidates in Zeballos, a village on Vancouver Island with a population of around 126.
