The Okanagan Chinese Canadian Association will be celebrating Mid-Autumn with a day of tradition, family-friendly activities, and delicious treats for the community to participate in and try at Grizzli Winery in West Kelowna. The festival will be running on Sunday, September 27, from 1 pm to 5 pm, with doors opening at 12:30 pm. The event is free to attend and is expected to have a large turnout and lots of fun activities to participate in.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is a popular Chinese harvest festival with over 3000 years of history, celebrating gathering, giving thanks, and praying for good fortune. Mooncakes are a popular sweet treat to accompany the festival, a bean-filled pastry meant to be made and shared among friends and family, with their round shape symbolizing reunion and completion.
The festival will bring live music, food trucks, vendors, a silent auction, a dragon and lion ceremony, a free family photo station, and wine available from Grizzli Winery. Guests are encouraged to register for the event on Eventbrite for a complimentary prize drawing at the event.
OCCA Communities Association is a registered charity that supports multicultural communities, immigrants, and newcomers throughout the Okanagan. It provides year-round cultural, community, and programs for children and seniors. A portion of the festival’s vendor proceeds will support immigrant seniors experiencing language barriers and social isolation.
