Flames sign forward Brennan Othmann to one-year, two-way extension

CALGARY — The Calgary Flames have signed forward Brennan Othmann to a one-year, two-way contract extension worth US$975,000 at the NHL level, the club announced Friday.

Calgary acquired the 23-year-old from Pickering, Ont., from the New York Rangers on March 6.

He recorded a goal and an assist in two games with the Flames while adding a goal and six assists in 14 games with the American Hockey League’s Calgary Wranglers.

Othmann began the 2025-26 season splitting time between the Rangers and the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack.

He was selected in the first round (16th overall) of the 2021 draft by the Rangers and won back-to-back gold medals with Canada at the 2022 and 2023 world junior championships.

Othmann also captured the 2023 Ontario Hockey League championship with the Peterborough Petes before turning professional the following season.

In his first professional campaign, Othmann finished second in Hartford scoring with 49 points in 67 games and earned a selection to the AHL All-Star Game.
