More than two dozen suspects arrested during crime crackdown in Kamloops

A crackdown on organized crime, gang activity, drug trafficking and prolific offenders in Kamloops more that two weeks ago netted RCMP 35 suspects and 32 weapons.

Officers with the Proactive Enforcement Team coordinated the three-day deployment from Sept. 3 to 5 in Kamloops and Tk’emlups, according to an RCMP media release issued today, Sept. 21.

Police used patrols, compliance checks and vehicle stops to make 35 arrests, 32 weapons seizures, seize 159 grams of illegal drugs, found a stolen vehicle and seized $1,755 in cash.

“The team remains focused on disrupting alleged organized crime, drug trafficking, and prolific offenders while continuing enforcement efforts throughout Kamloops and Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc,” Kamloops’ top cop Supt. Jeff Pelley said in the release.

RCMP didn’t say how many of the 32 suspects arrested are facing charges.
