Kamloops Pub Star Karaoke Contest searches for the city’s next local singing star

Kamloops karaoke singers still have a chance to step up to the microphone as the fifth annual Kamloops Pub Star Karaoke Contest heads into its final preliminary rounds. Presented by Mobile Entertainment Kamloops, the city-wide amateur singing competition has been making its way through local pubs throughout September, giving performers a chance to sing in front of a crowd and compete for a spot in the October 3 finale.

The contest is built for local karaoke talent rather than professional performers. Singers can register in advance or drop in on the night of a preliminary round, and two performers from each event move on to the finale for a chance to become the next Kamloops Pub Star.

For some, that means putting a favourite song to the test in front of judges and a live audience. For others, it is simply a chance to get on stage, have some fun and meet other people who enjoy performing. Those who would rather stay out of the spotlight can still be part of the night by cheering on friends and local singers from the audience.

Two preliminary rounds remain.

Rock’n Firkin Sports Pub & Grill hosts the next competition Thursday, September 24 at 7 pm, followed by The Office Pub & Grill on Saturday, September 26, at 8 pm.

The Office is already known for its Saturday-night karaoke, making it a fitting stop for the competition as singers make their final push toward the finale.

The finalists will come together Saturday, October 3 at Pogue Mahone, with the final round beginning at 8 pm.

Whether someone is chasing the title, supporting a friend or just looking for a lively night out, the contest offers a fun way to see some of Kamloops’ local performers take their shot on stage.

The remaining preliminary rounds and finale are free to attend.
