Canada’s Leylah Fernandez has another title to her name, winning the Singapore Open on Sunday.

The 24-year-old from Laval, Que., beat Talia Gibson of Australia 7-5, 6-0 in the final to earn her first championship of the season.

Fernandez had five aces and won 6 of 12 available break points across the one-hour, 38-minute match.

She made quick work of the second set, winning 81.8 per cent of her first serve points.

Fernandez, the world No. 31, came into the WTA 500 tournament seeded sixth and dispatched top seed Mirra Andreeva in the quarterfinals to advance.

The title is the sixth of Fernandez’s career and the first since she won the Japan Open in Osaka in October 2025.
