Police search for suspects after truck rams Kamloops business

Kamloops RCMP are searching for two suspects after a stolen pickup truck was used to ram the front door of a North Shore business early Tuesday morning in an unsuccessful attempt to steal an ATM.

Police were called to the business in the 800-block of Desmond Street shortly after 3:30 a.m. Oct. 6 after a maroon Ford F-350 crashed through the front entrance.

Two people inside the truck attempted to attach a tow rope to the ATM but were unsuccessful, according to police.

Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP officers later spotted the suspect vehicle travelling east on the Trans-Canada Highway toward Barnhartvale.

Police Dog Services and a drone operator assisted frontline officers in trying to locate the truck and suspects, but neither had been found as of Tuesday.

One person was arrested after entering the business after the truck left the scene. Police said that person did not appear to be connected to the break-in.

Investigators are asking anyone with dashcam footage from the Trans-Canada Highway or the Barnhartvale area to contact police, particularly if the footage shows a maroon Ford F-350 with damage to its rear end.

Anyone with information can contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2026-33599.

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
