Canadiens deal defenceman Struble to Predators

MONTREAL — Defenceman Jayden Struble is heading to Nashville after the Montreal Canadiens and Predators completed a trade Friday.

The Canadiens receive a second-round pick from the Predators in the 2027 NHL draft.

The 25-year-old Struble, from Cumberland, Rhode Island, played 174 games for the Canadiens and registered seven goals and 28 assists. He also acquired 167 penalty minutes over four seasons with Montreal. He was selected in the second round (46th overall) by the Canadiens in the 2019 draft.

Struble had signed a two-year, $2.825 million contract extension ($1.4125 million AAV) with Montreal through the 2026-27 season after avoiding arbitration. He was caught in a crowded left-side Montreal blue line and became the subject of trade speculation earlier this season.

The Predators visit the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.
