Halloween’s on a Saturday this year and the weather is looking good for Kamloops and the Okanagan, so be ready to make the most of it.
There’s some showers in the forecast to finish out the week, but for Halloween itself it looks like a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 8 Celsius in Kamloops and 9 C in the Okanagan with a nighttime low of 1 C.
“We’ll see lots of sun in the afternoon for sure, and then a generally clear sky at night, so it should be a nice trick-or-treat,” Environment Canada meteorologist Steve Boily told iNFOnews.ca.
Boily said the outlook for the next week or so looks warm and sunny, too.
“There’s a ridge coming down from Alaska, slowly taking its place over most of B.C., so it should be pretty nice for the next few days, in fact, after Saturday,” he said.
The snow level is around 1,100 to 1,200 metres, which is good news for those in costume at the valley bottoms and skiers who are excited for the season. Major ski areas like Big White Ski Resort and SilverStar Mountain Resort have already received some significant snowfalls in the past few days.
“Before Saturday morning, we still have a chance of showers every day so there should be more snow up there for sure,” Boily said.
This winter is gearing up to be a “super El Nino” which means it’s likely to be warmer and less snowy, but Boily said it doesn’t usually affect fall.
“We’ve looked at the last three big El Ninos that we’ve had over the last 15-20 years, and they don’t seem to have any significant impact on one side of winter or the other,” he said.
