Democratic incumbent Cory Booker won election Tuesday to the U.S. Senate representing New Jersey, defeating Republican Justin Murphy. Booker won a third full term over Murphy, a little-known attorney who emerged from a crowded field in his party’s June primary. New Jersey has not elected a Republican senator since 1972. Booker, the former mayor of Newark and a former presidential candidate, has been an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump. The Associated Press declared Booker the winner at 8:00 p.m. EST.
