Democratic incumbent Chris Coons won election Tuesday to the U.S. Senate representing Delaware, defeating Republican Mike Katz. Coons won a third full term over Katz, who had previously been a Democrat and served as a state lawmaker. Coons has criticized President Donald Trump’s tariffs and described the war with Iran as illegal. Delaware has not elected a Republican senator in more than three decades. The Associated Press declared Coons the winner at 8:00 p.m. EST.
