Democrat Amy Klobuchar wins election for governor in Minnesota

Democrat Amy Klobuchar won election Wednesday as governor of Minnesota, defeating Republican Lisa Demuth. Klobuchar has served in the U.S. Senate since 2007. She launched her campaign in January after Gov. Tim Walz abandoned his bid for a third term amid criticism over mismanagement of taxpayer funding for child care programs. Demuth is the Minnesota state House speaker who won the Republican primary despite President Donald Trump’s endorsement of Mike Lindell, the MyPillow founder who supported the president’s election conspiracies. The Associated Press declared Klobuchar the winner at 12:07 a.m. EST.
