Truro, N.S., to welcome world’s top curlers for 2028 women’s championship

TRURO — The world’s top women’s curling teams are coming to Truro in 2028.

World Curling and Curling Canada announced Wednesday the Nova Scotia town will host the women’s world curling championship for the first time.

The tournament will feature 18 teams, including Canada, competing March 17-26 at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre.

Truro has previously hosted Grand Slam of Curling events in 2015 and 2018.

Next year’s women’s world championship is scheduled for March 13-21, with World Curling in discussions to hold the tournament in the United Arab Emirates.

Canada has won a record 19 world women’s titles, most recently in 2025 when Rachel Homan’s rink captured gold in South Korea.
