Kelowna highway reopened after being closed due to home invasion

Highway 97 in downtown Kelowna was closed for four hours this morning, Nov. 9, as RCMP dealt with a home invasion.

Police responded at 5:08 a.m. to the home invasion in the 800 block of Harvey Avenue, which is what Highway 97 is called through that part of Kelowna.

A perimeter was set up and the highway was closed between Ethel and Richter streets.

The highway re-opened at 9:08 a.m. and rush hour traffic flowed again as it was redirected during the closure, Cpl. Tammy Lobb, the RCMP’s media relations officer, told iNFOnews.ca.

A news release issued shortly after 10 a.m. said police were still at the scene and there was no threat to the public.
