Portion of eastern Knox Mountain Park closed

KELOWNA – Effective immediately, the City of Kelowna will be temporarily closing a section of Knox Mountain Park. City crews will be starting wildfire fuel mitigation (the process of thinning, pruning and removing forest fuels) and completing the removal of hazardous trees. The work will be completed along the access road east of Clifton Road leading to Hepner’s Pond.

The main portion of Knox Mountain Park, west of Clifton road, will remain open.

Closed trails will be marked and spotters utilized to ensure the safety of park users. Residents are asked to obey the signs and follow the direction of safety personnel.

The work will take place between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., with the section re-opening in one month. Seasonal crews will continue manual tree felling and the thinning of the forest over the next few months.
