
UPDATE: Crews dealing with spot fire north of Kamloops
A wildfire that sparked up earlier today near Kamloops is confirmed to be a small spot fire.
The fire started on a hillside at around 2 p.m. today, July 7, and its plume of smoke could be seen for kilometres.
An eight person B.C. Wildfire crew is currently on the ground assisting the Kamloops Fire Rescue in putting it out.
The fire has been measured at 0.01 hectares in size and is located north of the city centre and west of the Westsyde neighbourhood, according to B.C. Wildfire.
No word yet on the cause of the fire, but a thunderstorm move through the area earlier today.
