Man slapped with $1,200 in fines after ATV drives on wrong side of Northern B.C. highway
An ATV has been impounded and the driver was given more than $1,200 in fines after conservation officers spotted the vehicle driving on the wrong side of a busy highway in northern B.C.
Smithers officers spotted two people in the ATV speeding along a busy Highway 16, according to a post from the Conservation Officer Service today, July 15.
"The ATV was seen careening onto a pedestrian walkway along a bridge over the Bulkley River," according to the service.
"With lights flashing, conservation officers looped around in their patrol truck and met the ATV rider as he came towards them. The rider was stopped and arrested by conservation officers and RCMP."
The driver was issued several tickets for driving with no insurance or driver's license, and riding without due care and attention. The total added up to more than $1,200 in fines. The driver also had an outstanding arrest warrant.
The ATV was also impounded by RCMP for seven days for stunt driving.
