VERNON – Two people are dead following a crash involving a motorcycle and a car on Westside Road north west of Vernon.
Police are releasing few details about the accident, but RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk confirms it happened around 9 p.m. Sunday night.
The crash involved a southbound SUV and a northbound motorcycle carrying two people. Molendyk says the SUV had pulled out to pass another vehicle on a dotted line and was in the motorcycle's lane when the collision ocurred.
The two people on the bike, both from the North Okanagan, died at the scene. Police are not yet releasing their names, ages, or genders.
Molendyk says the driver of the SUV, also a North Okanagan resident, didn’t suffer any injuries.
RCMP wrapped up an examination of the scene by 4 a.m. this morning, but continue to investigate with the B.C. Coroners Service.
Molendyk says they will be speaking to witnesses in the area and doing mechanical inspections as part of the investigation process. At this early stage, Molendyk says there are no indications that speed, drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

yes, it was right in front of our road and so sad. So many cars had to turn around and could not get through almost all night.
