Weapons, drugs seized from Kamloops motel room

Kamloops RCMP seized multiple weapons, cash and drugs from a Valleyview motel room Wednesday morning.

A man was spotted running across Highway 1 while carrying a rifle before getting into a truck around 11 a.m., Sept. 14.

Kamloops RCMP found the truck at a nearby motel and arrested the people inside, according to a news release.

Officers traced the room with the rifle-wielding suspect was inside, eventually taking three people into custody.

“Police located three people, a firearm that had been reported stolen during an overnight theft from vehicle report, a loaded crossbow, cash, and approximately one kilogram of various suspected illegal drugs, including fentanyl and methamphetamine, inside of the room,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the news release.

All three people were released "without process" while the investigation continues, according to the release.

Kamloops RCMP are asking that anyone with information related to the investigation contact the detachment at 250-828-3000.
