Lose some stacks of cash? Kelowna RCMP would like to speak with you

This is one time you may want the cops to be looking for you – Kelowna RCMP are searching for the rightful owner of a large amount of cash.

A couple found a “significant” amount of cash on the sidewalk and turned it into the Kelowna detachment, according to an RCMP release.

They found the money in the 1300 block of Ellis Street back on Oct. 15. The woman assumed she would have seen something on social media about the missing money, but after a month went by, she decided to turn the cash into police.

The couple said they came across the money in three piles. They picked one up pile, a man who hasn’t been identified grabbed another while the fate of the other pile is unknown, RCMP said. The three piles were about 100 yards apart from one another.

“This amount of money is an unusual find,” Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Const. Mike Della-Paolera said in the release. “We're asking the person who may have lost it to come forward and claim it.”

Anybody interested in trying to claim the money will have to call the RMCP detachment at 250-762-3300, reference file number 2022-71769 and identify the approximate value that was found.
