Calgary mayor grabs some sunglasses and boat

PENTICTON – There’s no question Toronto mayor Rob Ford is by far the most famous mayor in Canada, but Calgary’s Naheed Nenshi is a close second.

The social media savvy mayor gained national attention during the extreme flooding in Calgary last summer.

Nenshi gave the keynote address at the Southern Interior Local Government Association convention Thursday night.

Friday he decided to pick-up a pair of cheap sunglasses and enjoy some of what the South Okanagan is famous for.

He tweeted a picture of himself in a boat on Okanagan Lake with a message poking fun at the weather in his home town, “Taking a Friday afternoon break from the conference I’m speaking at in Penticton. Same weather as home, I think.”
