KELOWNA – Revised plans for the expansion of a portion of Highway 97 to six lanes will be on display Friday night with representatives on hand to answer questions and take suggestions from the public.

The initial announcement that the 4.5 kilometre stretch of Highway 97 between Edwards Road and Highway 33 will be widened from four lanes to six was made over a year ago and project manager Spencer King says the designs have been modified based on feedback received during the first public open house.

“We’ve made some changes since that first (public info session) and we’d like to show these changes and solicit additional comments,” he says. “We will have many project staff here to answer questions and talk to people about the design.”

Roughly $32 million of the projected $50.2 million project will come from the federal government with the province paying the balance. Construction is expected to begin this year should be finished sometime in 2016.

The open house is happening at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Centre from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m on Friday.
