KELOWNA – A 14-year-old boy is dead and three others are injured after a head-on collision in Lake Country Sunday afternoon.
The incident happened at around 4 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 97 and Crystal Waters Road.
RCMP say two people were in a black Dodge pickup travelling southbound in the outside lane when it was struck by a northbound Pontiac Sunfire.
Witnesses say the Pontiac swerved suddenly into the oncoming lane and hit the pickup head-on, causing it fo flip onto its roof.
The passenger of the Pontiac, a 14-year-old from Vernon, was found dead at the scene while the driver, 17, was airlifted to KGH with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the pickup, a 25-year-old woman from Lumby, also suffered serious injuries but is listed as stable. The passenger of the pickup escaped with only minor injuries.
The investigation is ongoing but at this time neither speed nor alcohol are considered factors.
The impact completely destroyed both vehicles.
