VANCOUVER – Police say a man is in custody after allegedly assaulting three people.
New Westminster police say officers responded to a call on the Queensborough Bridge on Sunday after receiving a report of an elderly man being assaulted with a weapon.
Investigators say two people intervened to help, but it’s alleged the man began attacking them.
It’s alleged the man had a weapon in his hand and did not comply with officers when they asked him to drop it, and instead began attacking one of the people again.
Police say they initially used a weapon called an Arwen and when the man allegedly continued to attack the victim, another “less lethal” option was used.
Sgt. Jeff Scott says the three alleged victims suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to hospital for assessment.
