UPDATE: Police chase down two separate runaway drivers

KAMLOOPS – Police are investigating two separate incidents of drivers fleeing their vehicles on Tuesday, May 5.

Around 2:15 p.m. several marked and unmarked police vehicles along with an RCMP dog handler unit were on scene at Ord Road near the dog park and Tranquille Road.

Cpl. Cheryl Bush, a spokesperson for the Kamloops RCMP, says officers chased down two occupants who fled a vehicle. She says it appears the vehicle was uninsured. Both the driver and passenger are in custody.

Bush says there was a second unrelated incident of a driver fleeing on foot after they were pulled over for speeding.

"It's been determined they're investigating a prohibited driver," she says.

Around 1:45 p.m. InfoNews.ca received reports of another police presence near Lethbridge Avenue and Halston Avenue. Bush could not confirm if it's the location of the second incident.

Guess this proves we need more police. Seriously though, it takes 3 cop cars to deal with fleeing drivers?

  2. like missng females, murdered aboriginal female at ravines year ago, people dying at rivers, and lakes, stabbing by pioneers bridge, lots of unresolved conflict that authority should be aware, or perhaps they lack the manpower that is needed to prevent everything above. Who knows, not I. I agree the public should be aware of what is being done for safety of our citizens.
