Lead-footed drivers caught by Tk’emlúps RCMP in speed trap

KAMLOOPS – Two of the speeders caught in a RCMP crackdown in Kamloops Saturday were going over 140 kilometres per hour.

The officers from the Kamloops Rural detachment ticketed a total of 15 drivers for exceeding the posted speed limit between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., July 25, eastbound on the Halston Connector, according to a media release.

There were several cases of excessive speeding, including the two drivers doing over 140 km/h. Their vehicles have been seized and impounded for seven days, police say.

“Travelling at these speeds not only puts that driver in jeopardy, but also other members of the public using the highways,” RCMP Cpl. J.V. Toye says in the release.

Toye says police have received several calls about speeding and aggressive driving since the Overlanders Bridge construction started.

“We would like to remind the public to drive in a safe manner and that future speed enforcement operations will be conducted," he says.
