OTTAWA – Ottawa Senators forward Mike Hoffman was awarded a US$2-million, one-year deal by an arbitrator.
Hoffman asked for $3.4 million and the Senators $1.75 million in player-elected salary arbitration.
The 25-year-old finished sixth in Calder Trophy voting for NHL rookie of the year with 27 goals and 21 assists.
Hoffman’s hearing was Thursday but the ruling was delayed because of the long weekend in Ontario.
At $2 million, the Senators get another year to see Hoffman at a value price.
Hoffman is set to be a restricted free agent again next summer.
