Police suspect arson in West Kelowna house fire

WEST KELOWNA – Arson may be behind a suspicious house fire that started late last night in the Rose Valley neighbourhood.

No one was home at the time and there are no reported injures. The single-storey house sustained heavy smoke damage throughout.

Fire crews and police responded to the blaze in the 1100 block of Peak Point Drive this morning at 2 a.m, according to an RCMP media release.

An RMCP arson investigator, the Forensic Identification team and the Kelowna Fire Department are collaborating in this arson investigation.

"It does appear from the initial investigation that this was a targeted incident," Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says in the release.

Police are asking anyone with any information regarding this incident to contact the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880, or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
