ELECTION 2014: Plenty of choice in Kelowna civic election

KELOWNA – With 29 candidates declared for Kelowna city councillor, the only thing for certain is… there will be a lot of election signs.

Candidate nominations closed at 4 p.m. on Friday. Six candidates vie for mayor, 29 for city councillor and nine for school trustee.

Former mayor Sharon Shepherd and councillor Colin Basran are running for the city’s top job, along with James Murphy, Sam Condy, Kelly Row and Chuck Hardy.

The list of council candidates is a long one. They are all vying for one eight seats in the council chamber:

There are four trustee positions up for grabs on the Central Okanagan school board and nine candidates in the running:

There will be four days of advance voting before General Election Day on November 15.

Advance polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.:
– Wednesday, November 5 at the Parkinson Recreation Centre
– Wednesday, November 12 at the Parkinson Recreation Centre, City Hall and the UBC Okanagan campus
– Thursday, November 13 at City Hall and Okanagan College
– Friday, November 14 at City Hall and the Parkinson Recreation Centre
