Most actively traded companies on the TSX
TORONTO – Some of the most active companies traded Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:
Toronto Stock Exchange (14,041.82, down 42.61 points):
Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace, rail equipment.Down $1.07, or 25.85 per cent, to $3.07 on 64.9 million shares. Bombardier is writing down the value of its Learjet 85 program, resulting in a pretax charge of about US$1.4 billion. Meanwhile, the company says cash flow from its aerospace division is forecast to fall to US$800 million from previous guidance of between US$1.2 billion and US$1.6 billion.
Talisman Energy Inc. (TSX:TLM). Oil and gas. Down four cents, or 0.44 per cent. to $8.98 on 17.1 million shares.
Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Up 36 cents, or 7.68per cent, to $5.05 on 13.4 million shares.
Romarco Minerals Inc. (TSX:R). Miner. Up 13 cents, or 21.67per cent, to 73 cents on 7.9 million shares.
Blackberry Ltd. (TSX:BB). Wireless technology. Down $2.94, or 19.57 per cent, to $12.08 on 7.4 million shares. The issue gave back a big chunk the spectacular gains it made Wednesday amid reports that South Korean electronics giant Samsung planned a US$7.5-billion takeover bid. Both companies subsequently issued denials.
B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Up 14 cents, or 6.28 per cent, to $2.37 on 6.7 million shares.
Companies reporting major news:
Canadian Tire Ltd. (TSX:CTC.A). Retail. Up $3.38, or 2.91 per cent, to $119.62 on 314,710 shares. The iconic Canadian retailer seemed to be a beneficiary from the announcement that Target was closing all 133 of its Canadian stores.
