Kelowna man killed in ski accident identified

A man who died in a skiing accident near Roger's Pass April 22 has been identified.

The B.C. Coroners Service confirmed he was Joshua Bernot, 30, of Kelowna.

Bernot and a friend were on the second day of a two-day back country ski excursion when the incident occurred. About 12:30, while skiing in the Young's Peak area of Glacier National Park, witnesses say he fell nearly 16 metres down a cliff. The friend and other nearby skiiers quickly summoned for help and national parks and first reponders arrived soon after, but Bernot died at the scene.

Bernot's family has been notified and the coroners service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
