Parkinson Recreation Centre’s pool open

The Parkinson Recreation Centre main pool has now re-opened. A reduction in water clarity was caused by a mechanical malfunction that affected the pool’s filtration system. The issue has been resolved and staff will continue to monitor the equipment.

“While the water clarity did not pose any health concerns, the closure was necessary to maintain a safe facility,” said Jim Gabriel, Divisional Director Active Living and Culture. “Lifeguarding standards require a certain level of water clarity.”

Some swim lessons and aquatic fitness classes are still cancelled for today until the pool temperature regulates. City staff will contact those customers affected. Refunds for the cancelled classes will be credited back to customers’ accounts.

The pool schedule can be viewed on the City website.
