Owner of 84 Great Danes unable to find vet to visit them

OSSIPEE, N.H. – A New Hampshire woman who had 84 Great Danes seized from her home and who has pleaded not guilty to animal cruelty charges says she’s been unable to find a veterinarian to visit them.

Christina Fay sought control over the care of the dogs, which were seized in June. Authorities say the dogs were living in filth and suffering from sores and other health problems.

Fay was allowed to pick a veterinarian or veterinary technician to observe them. Her lawyer says that no one will do so “for fear of reprisal” and that Fay has picked someone without those qualifications.

Prosecutors haven’t filed a response.

Fay’s trial is scheduled for Oct. 25. Prosecutors on Monday dropped two of the 14 misdemeanour charges against her, including that she knowingly permitted the dogs to be subjected to cruelty.
