Rob Ford’s driver to face extortion trial related to ex-mayor’s ‘crack video’

TORONTO – Former mayor Rob Ford’s driver will have to stand trial on an extortion charge.

The judge’s decision in the case against Alexander (Sandro) Lisi follows two weeks of preliminary hearings.

The charges against Lisi relate to efforts to retrieve the infamous “crack video” of Ford apparently smoking crack cocaine in May 2013.

Evidence heard at the preliminary hearing is under a publication ban to protect Lisi’s right to a fair trial.

It’s not known yet when the trial will start.

His next court appearance is May 27.
