SURREY, B.C. – A woman has been hurt in a shooting late Sunday in a Surrey, B.C., home.
RCMP say the attack happened just before midnight in a home in the Guildford neighbourhood.
The suspect fled before police arrived.
Sgt. Elenore Sturko says in a statement that police believe the victim and her attacker knew each other.
Sturko says the shooting does not appear to be related to ongoing conflict between Lower Mainland gangs but may have links to the drug trade.
The woman remains in hospital in serious condition and a search for the suspect continues, but Sturko says the public is not at risk.
