Passenger on Air Canada flight charged with assaulting crew member

WINNIPEG – RCMP have charged a woman with assaulting a flight attendant after a plane landed in Winnipeg.

Officers say the Air Canada flight from Ottawa was en route to Vancouver on Wednesday night when it was diverted to Winnipeg.

The flight crew reported that they had to restrain a drunk and violent passenger so the plane could land safely.

While trying to control the passenger, a male flight attendant suffered minor injuries.

The crew member received medical attention and the plane resumed its flight to Vancouver about two hours later.

Paulette Metuq, 24, of Nunavut faces charges of assault causing bodily harm and mischief.
